From Sleepy Outpost to Bustling Port: San Francisco celebrates 150 Years

On April 24, 2013 the Port of San Francisco celebrates the 150th anniversary of the creation of the State Harbor Commission. The Port traces its official beginning to this date in 1863, but the Port’s history goes back much further in time.

Maritime Day on the Waterfront

Sunday, April 28, 2013 — 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Maritime Day is a family oriented daylong public celebration of events and activities along the waterfront.
